EUA: integrity at the heart of the 2024 annual conference held in the United Kingdom

“In these times of change and challenges, we — the academic sector — will serve our societies better and be stronger if we work together. And the EUA has become the ideal platform to play this role,” says Josep M. Garrell, president of the EUA, at the opening of the association's annual conference held at Swansea University (United Kingdom), on 11/04/2024.

The theme of this 2024 edition is integrity, with the aim of “highlighting some of the common values and principles”. He lists these examples:
• “Many European academic communities have shown solidarity and integrity in their response to the war in Ukraine;
• rigorous scientific standards, respect for the rights of others, and ethical conduct—in short, integrity—are the lifeblood of research;
• the challenges and growing pressures on academic freedom, as well as pressures on institutional autonomy, must be met with courage and integrity;
• the education of future generations of Europeans requires integrity, especially in these difficult times.”

This is the third time that this conference has taken place in the United Kingdom…
