European label and degree: a "promising progress" according to French heads of engineering schools

"We consider the European preparatory label to be a promising step towards the creation of a European degree. Nevertheless, French engineering schools await with interest further clarification on its implementation and practical implications", states the Cdefi (Conference of the Directors of French Engineering Schools) on 16/04/2024. The Conference is reacting to the "higher education" package  in favour of transnational cooperation, presented by the European Commission on 27/03.

The package comprises three initiatives, including the creation of a European degree. In a gradual approach for Member States towards this European degree, the Commission is proposing the introduction of a label, awarded to joint degree programmes that meet European criteria.

"The value of the European degree should be assessed primarily on its ability to increase the employability of graduates and open up new opportunities for international mobility", says the Cdefi.
