"It is really important that we expand the Humane network, particularly in those countries where there are fewer members, and that includes France, Germany and parts of Eastern Europe. The ambition is also to expand outside, because Europe can learn from Australasia and the Middle East and vice versa."

These are the words of Paul Greatrix, chairman of Humane, the European network of university chief executives, in an interview with News Tank on 19/01/2024. He was elected president on 16/10/2023.

"Humane is an association that brings together administrative managers from 177 higher education establishments in Europe, the Middle East and Australia, most of whom are not academics. In some countries, there are crossovers, but in general, academics and administrators follow different paths and it can be difficult to reach a common understanding of priorities and experiences," observes the Registrar of the University of Nottingham (England).
