Bologna Process: "Still not fully implemented" ; the EUA's demands for the Ministerial Conference

"Although the implementation of the recognition of qualifications frameworks and quality assurance as described in the Bologna Process has been agreed for many years, these key commitments are still not fully implemented and not sufficiently recognised and valued by all systems and institutions in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)", states the EUA on 21/05/2024.

The association is speaking out ahead of the EHEA Ministerial Conference to be held on 29 and 30/05/2024 in Tirana, Albania, and is making demands of the ministers. The event aims to take stock of the progress made and lay the foundations for the future.

"The continuing lack of implementation across the whole of EHEA is reducing the benefits of the Bologna Process for institutions, students and staff. It also risks damaging the reputation and credibility of existing European policy initiatives and instruments."

The EUA is therefore calling for a review of the Standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the EHEA (ESG). Among the potential changes to be considered, the association suggests improving connections…
