European degree: "Focus on promoting the tools of the Bologna Process" (The Guild)

"The debate on joint degrees has reopened discussion on the slow implementation of the tools developed as part of the Bologna process, given the EU's limited competences in education policy. Rather than focusing on these competences, it would be preferable to focus on promoting the benefits of the tools", states The Guild, 22/05/2024.

The association takes a stance on the publication of the higher education package by the European Commission on 27/03/2024.

The Commission's communication on the European degree offers the Member States two points of entry to the European degree: the preparatory label or the degree as a new qualification.

For The Guild, "while this choice reflects the diversity of the current system, it is not clear how these two entry points would work in parallel for a consortium where some Member States are able to deliver a diploma while others opt for a label".
