Open AI announces "ChatGPT Edu, an accessible option for universities to bring AI to their campuses at scale", on 30/05/2024. Powered by GPT-4o, it is "built for universities to responsibly deploy AI to students, faculty, researchers, and campus operations".

Open AI says that the reason behind this initiative is the success institutions like the University of Oxford, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, University of Texas, Arizona State University, and Columbia University in the City of New York have had with ChatGPT Enterprise.

“Integrating Open AI's technology into our educational and operational frameworks accelerates transformation at Arizona State University (ASU). We're collaborating across our community to harness these tools, extending our learnings as a scalable model for other institutions”, states Kyle Bowen, Deputy CIO at ASU.

Able to reason from text and images and use advanced tools such as data analysis, ChatGPT Edu includes in particular:
