Maria Leptin (ERC) to the scientific community : "Encourage EU citizens to vote"

ERC President Maria Leptin calls on the scientific community to vote in the European elections, announces the European Research Council on 04/06/2024.

"I am writing to encourage the EU citizens among you to vote in the elections for the European Parliament.

It is more important than ever, not only to support research but also for all the other issues Europe currently has to deal with, that we have a strong European Parliament that fully reflects the views of its people.

The European Parliament does matter! So please vote, and ask your friends, family and colleagues to do the same," can one read in her letter to ERC laureates, panel members and European researchers.

She adds that she agrees with the European Parliament's slogan for the ballot: "Use your vote or others will decide for you".

This initiative is welcomed by Mattias Björnmalm, Secretary General of Cesaer, which brings together Europe's universities of science and technology:
