IP Paris (France): Symposium on 14/06 "to obtain massive investment in research in Europe"

The Institut Polytechnique de Paris (France) is announcing that it will be holding a symposium on 14/06/2024 to "launch an urgent call for massive investment in research and technology, which is essential for the reindustrialisation of Europe and the guarantee of its sovereignty".

The event is being co-organised with the EuropaNova association, a think tank co-founded by Enrico Letta, the former Italian Prime Minister, and the Joint European disruptive initiative.

The organisers write: "The aim of this unique event is to bring together civil society, researchers and European entrepreneurs to alert European governance to the urgent need for massive investment in research and innovation to match the ambitions of European industrial sovereignty.

"Since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, the EU has been lagging worryingly behind in terms of investment in research and development compared with powers such as China and the United States.

In 2022, according to the OECD, the EU's R&D spending will represent 2.2% of its gross domestic product, while China will invest 2.4% and the United…
