Germany: International Stone Centre for Inequality Research founded at the University of Munich

The Munich International Stone Centre for Inequality Research (ISI) is being founded at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) to conduct research into social inequality focusing on wealth inequality, announces the university on 27/05/2024.

“We’re delighted about the establishment at LMU of this new interdisciplinary research centre on such an important social topic,” says Bernd Huber, President of the german university.

The centre is funded by the Stone Foundation, which also funds several research centres worldwide looking into socioeconomic inequality, through a donation of $5 M (€4.67 M).

"As part of its mission, the Munich International Stone Centre for Inequality Research will build up an international and interdisciplinary research network", declares LMU.

“Social inequality, particularly in wealth, is one of the greatest social challenges of our time.
