Spanish Ministry of Universities allocating € 93.3 M to the stable incorporation of 439 researchers

The State Research Agency (AEI) has published the resolution of the granting of the second call to encourage Research Consolidation, which allocates € 93.3 M in aid to the stable incorporation of 439 researchers, national and foreign, to the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation, announces the agency on 12/06/2024.

The resolution represents an increase of 23.3%, from € 75.67 M in 2022, and reports 28 more places granted (+ 6.8%) than in the 2022 edition, according to the AEI, an organisation dependent on the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

"Spanish universities and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) account for the majority of the applications granted, with 51.5% and 30.3%, respectively.

Catalonia was the region with the highest number of grants and funding obtained, followed by Madrid, Andalusia, Valencia, Galicia and Aragon", says the agency.

The call for aid to encourage Research Consolidation, funded by European Next Generation funds, first started in 2023.
