ETH Board: Michael Hengartner reappointed President, as well as all the other members

The Swiss Federal Council announces the reappointment of Michael Hengartner as President of the ETH Board, the strategic management and supervisory body of the ETH Domain, extending his term to 2028, on 26/06/2024. All ten other members of the ETH Board are also renewed.

Michael O. Hengartner holds a doctorate in biology and an Executive MBA from IMD Lausanne. He was Rector of the University of Zurich from 2014 to 2020, where he was also Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He was also President of swissuniversities from 2016 to 2020.

Pascale Bruderer, who began her role as Vice-President of the board in January 2024 will serve throughout the period from 2025 to 2028, along with four board members: Marc Bürki, Beatrice Fasana, Cornelia Ritz Bossicard and Christian Rüegg.

Kristin Becker van Slooten will continue her term until the end of 2026.

Two board members, Susan Gasser and Christiane Leister, will be stepping down at the end of 2025, remaining in their roles for one more year. A public invitation to tender will be launched to replace them.
