Canada’s association to the EU research and innovation programme Horizon Europe signed

“We warmly welcome today’s association of Canada to Pillar II of Horizon Europe, the European Union’s framework programme for research and innovation. This is an important milestone in the long-standing strategic partnership between the European Union and Canada", declare Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a joint statement on 03/07/2024.

Canada is now associated to the EU's research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe, and will work jointly on large-scale projects tackling big challenges, according to the European Commission.

"Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Francois-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, are signing the agreement that gives Canadian researchers and organisations the opportunity to participate in the programme on equal terms with their EU counterparts", says the Commission.
