120 scientists elected to European Molecular Biology Organisation Membership on 60^th anniversary

"120 scientists from across Europe and beyond have been elected to the EMBO Membership, an honour that celebrates research excellence and outstanding achievements in the life sciences", announces the European Molecular Biology Organisation on 09/07/2024.

"The new EMBO Members and Associate Members have made immense contributions to fundamental life science research, and, in many cases, their work has paved the way for innovations that have improved lives and livelihoods around the world", declared Fiona Watt, EMBO Director.

These additions were made on the occasion of the EMBO's 60^th anniversary, when members were invited to elect 100 new EMBO Members and 20 EMBO Associate Members.

"The newly elected Members and Associate Members reside in 37 countries/territories", says the organisation. The most represented countries among new Members are the United Kingdom (19 Members), Germany (12) and France and Israel (both 8). Among Associate Members, the United States is most represented (6 people), followed by Chile and China (2 Associate Members).
