Italy : "Universities are ready for collaboration" with African peers (Crui about the Mattei Plan)

"The Mattei Plan represents an undoubted opportunity for educational and scientific collaboration with the African countries indicated by the Prime Minister's Office in the pilot project", declares the Crui, the Conference of Italian University Rectors, on 09/07/2024.

At the end of January 2024, Italy hosted an Africa summit during which Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni outlined the vision and first projects of the Mattei Plan, a project aiming to shape Italy’s strategy for Africa in the years to come through diverse projects.

The Conference of Italian University Rectors states that "Universities are ready for collaboration with African peers" and requests:

• the activation of joint doctoral programmes, also making use of university networks within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Centres, Extended Partnerships, Innovation Ecosystems, Innovation Infrastructures). The doctorates offer students the opportunity to spend a year at Italian universities;
• the realisation, within the framework of lifelong learning, of adult training courses on capacity building, aimed mainly (if not…
