UK announcing two collaborations in research and innovation with US and Switzerland

The UK will collaborate with Switzerland on emerging technology projects and with the US to tackle dementia with innovative biomarkers, announces UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), a non-departmental public body sponsored by the British Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), on 15/07/2024.

"Twenty-six innovative projects to enhance UK and Swiss collaborations and capabilities in the emerging fields of technology have been announced", says the organisation. The projects will be funded by £7.8 M (€9.28 M) from UKRI and CHF 9.1 M (€9.32 M) from Innosuisse, the Swiss innovation agency.

The UK and Switzerland governments signed a memorandum of understanding in 2022 to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. With ten of Europe’s top 20 research universities between them, the collaboration spans across three pivotal pillars, according to UKRI:
• "deep science;
• industrial commercialisation;
• international standards and regulation".
