University of Rennes: a single VP for Europe and International portfolios; "A strategic position"

"We have merged the 'Europe' and 'International' portfolios under a single vice-presidency, 'European and International Strategy'. This strategic positioning underlines the political dimension of the issues that concern us in a changing world," says Sébastien Le Picard, Vice President of European and International Strategy at the University of Rennes (France), in an interview with News Tank on 03/06/2024.

The institution is a new university, under experimental status, born from the university Rennes 1 and the integration of formerly independent schools. "We want to establish this strategy with the support of all the founding institutions and components of the University of Rennes, the national research partner organisations (CNRS, Inserm, Inria, Inrae) and the local authorities", he adds.

The university wishes to "strengthen the link between research, innovation and training on the international stage, which requires an overview of the opportunities offered by European programmes and international agreements".
