Innovation Scoreboard 2024: first place for Switzerland (+1,9% points)

Switzerland tops the Summary innovation index in 2024 and has been since 2010. Its score of 152.2 % (calculated in relation to the index of 100% for the 27 countries of the European Union in 2017) is 1.9% points higher than in 2023. Its growth rate since 2017 is 1.3% points, the fourth lowest in the ranking. These insights are available in the 2024 edition of the Innovation Scoreboard, published by the European Commission on 08/07/2024.

A total of 39 countries are compared in this scoreboard: those of the EU and 12 neighbouring countries - the United Kingdom, Iceland, the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Montenegro, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Moldova, for the first time.

Denmark, which retains its second place in the ranking acquired in 2023, remains first among the EU Member States. Sweden and Finland are in third and fourth place in the ranking.
