"The future of Europe is Erasmus" says ESN to MEPs; call for prioritise education in the next budget

"For the next EU mandate, we ask for education and international mobility to become key priorities for all representatives of the European Parliament. The future of Europe is Erasmus", states the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) in an open letter for the MEPs on 16/07/2024.

The new MEPs elected following the European elections from 06 to 09/06/2024 met for the first time in Strasbourg on this date. They re-elected Roberta Metsola as President and elected 14 Vice-Presidents. They also voted for the number of members in the Parliament's 20 committees on 17/07/2024.

According to ESN, the future of Europe lies in providing more opportunities for internationalisation, higher education and mobility.

"We call upon all members of the European Parliament to recognise the power of education in shaping the lives of young citizens. The discussion on the next budget of the European Union must prioritise these topics, with mobility at its heart. Neglecting education and mobility is equivalent to neglecting the future of young people and the future of Europe", they add.
