Christian Ehler re-elected EPP coordinator of the Itre Committee at the European Parliament

Christian Ehler, German EPP MEP and former rapporteur for the Horizon Europe research programme, has been re-elected EPP coordinator of the European Parliament's Itre Committee by his party on 17/07/2024.

He is responsible for coordinating his political group's positions and strategies within the committee. He is joined in this role by Bulgarian MEP Eva Maydell, who was elected EPP vice-coordinator of the Itre Committee on the same day.

"We have a lot of important work to do to ensure European competitiveness, a digital and green transition, affordable and clean energy and to strengthen research, innovation and academic freedom in Europe", he said on X on 17/07.

So far, the EPP is the only European party to have selected its coordinators. The Hungarian Zoltán Tarr has been elected coordinator of the Culture Committee, which is responsible in particular for education. He will be accompanied by Croatian Sunčana Glavak, vice-coordinator.
