Spain: €655 M for a project call funding 3,155 research projects and 1,169 predoctoral contracts

The Spanish Minister for Science, Innovation and Universities allocates €655 M to the Knowledge Generation Project Call, "the largest public allocation granted in Spain to a research call", announces the State Research Agency (AEI) on 16/07/2024.

The project will be managed through the AEI and will allow the financing of 3,155 research projects and 1,169 predoctoral contracts, according to Diana Morant, Minister for Science, Innovation and Universities.

"Projects lasting three or four years will be funded, aimed at advancing the frontier of knowledge, but also at solving specific problems in society. This call for proposals has increased its funding for projects by 30% compared to 2018", indicates Diana Morant.

"We will also co-finance, together with the European Social Fund Plus [whose aim is to invest in human capital and improve social cohesion and economic well-being in all regions of the Union], predoctoral contracts to accelerate the incorporation of young talent into research groups."
