EUA Trends 2024: rising expectations for HEIs to adapt to new demands

Higher education institutions are facing increasing demands in several areas, including diversification of missions, revision of educational offerings, and internationalisation. These challenges require strategic adaptation to manage roles, responsibilities and funding, taking into account the changing educational landscape, according to the EUA report "Trends 2024-European higher education institutions in times of transition" published on 25/07/2024.

The report explores the connection between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and various policy actions, political, societal, and economic developments.

Based on survey responses from 480 higher education institutions in 46 European higher education systems, it analyses HEIs' vision of European, national and institutional strategies and reforms. It also studies the institutions’ perspectives and strategies in regard to their missions, the changes in the student body and the education offer, the rise of non-degree education and the international exchanges and collaboration between institutions.
