Shanghai ranking 2024: American top 3 with Harvard leading; Cambridge bringing UK to 4^th

"Harvard University tops the ranking list for the 22^nd year, followed by Stanford and MIT (United States)", announces Shanghai Ranking amid the publication of its annual ranking of world universities on 15/08/2024.

In Europe, British universities stay in the lead with Cambridge and Oxford being 4^th and 6^th respectively. France follows close by with Paris-Saclay University in 12^th.

Tsinghua University (China) maintains its position as 22^nd and once again secures its status as the best in Asia. The University of Melbourne (Australia) is 37^th and tops other universities in Oceania for the fourteenth consecutive year since 2011.

There are two changes in the top 10: the University of Oxford (UK) is taking over the 6^th place that Princeton University (U.S.) has held since 2014, the latter having moved down to 7^th place. The California Institute of Technology (U.S.) is moving up one place in a tie for 8^th place with Columbia University.
