ExclusiveFrance: Thierry Damerval, Special Envoy for Science, Technology and Innovation

Thierry Damerval was appointed Special Envoy for Science, Technology and Innovation by the French government, News Tank learns on 05/08/2024.

He will have to carry out his mission "in close and constant interaction" with several French authorities: the Directorate for Research & Innovation within the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and the Directorate for Globalisation within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Thierry Damerval is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the ANR (French National Research Agency), a mandate he will finish in September before starting his new position on 11/09/2024.

He is also a Member of the Science Europe Governing Board, the organisation representing major public organisations that fund or perform research in Europe.

He served as deputy general director of the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (Inserm) and advised ministers on the matter of research and innovation in the past.
