EU: Call for applications from high-level scientists to advise the College of Commissioners

The European Commission is launching a call for applications to shortlist high-level scientists to become members of the Group of seven Chief Scientific Advisers (GCSA), providing independent scientific advice to the College of European Commissioners, on 20/08/2024.

Specifically addressed to European public research organisations, this call aims to enhance the list containing the names of scientists recognised for their level of expertise and their vision of science at the service of policy, drawn up by an independent high-level identification committee.

In particular, this committee assesses candidates' experience in:
• engagement with policy-making processes or the science-policy interface,
• provision of scientific advice at national, European or international level,
• public communication of science,
• team-working skills.

"Gender balance, representation of the diversity of the research community across Europe and consideration of the next generation of young leaders are also among the factors and criteria."
