"We want to represent early- and mid-career researchers at the European level" (K. Solymosi, YAE)

"Europe should focus on better nurturing the talents they have and making the research career path more attractive", declares Katalin Solymosi, the Young Academy of Europe's outgoing chair, in an interview with News Tank on 26/08/2024.

The pan-European organisation gathered in Strasbourg (France) on 26 and 27/08/2024 for its annual meeting.

"The YAE is a bottom-up organisation founded in 2012 by ERC starting grantees to represent early- and mid-career researchers at the European level. We have 173 members and the same number of alumni. We are most active in science policy, the specificity of the YAE is that we are looking for young principal investigators, independent and leading researchers of excellence and with interest in science policy", says Katalin Solymosi.

The organisation held new elections for its board during its annual meeting: Katalin Solymosi, who was chair since 2023, left her position and Scott Bremer was elected in her stead.
