Scott Bremer elected as new Chair of the Young Academy of Europe

Scott Bremer is the new Chair of the Young Academy of Europe, elected on 26/08/2024 during the organisation's annual meeting in Strasbourg (France), filling the position of Katalin Solymosi, who was Chair since 2023.

"The YAE is a bottom-up organisation founded in 2012 by ERC starting grantees to represent early- and mid-career researchers at the European level. We have 173 members and the same number of alumni", says Katalin Solymosi, the outgoing Chair.

The academy's main missions are scientific advice for policy, advocating for early- and mid-career researchers and working in several scientific initiatives across Europe, like the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (Coara), the International Science Council and the Initiative for Science in Europe.

Originally from New Zealand, Scott Bremer's background is broadly in environmental governance, and he has worked most on coastal governance and place-based climate adaptation.
