Commissioners-designate missions: building a Union of Skills and stimulating EU scientific progress

Roxana Mînzatu, candidate Executive Vice-President of the European Commission with special responsibility for education and skills, will have the responsibilities of "developing and building up a Union of Skills", states Ursula von der Leyen in the mission letters adressed to the candidates of her College, on 17/09/2024.

Ekaterina Zaharieva, appointed European Commissioner for Research and Innovation, will have "a critical role in the ambition of driving the EU's scientific and technological progress and making R&I an ever-greater part of our competitive edge in today’s global economy".

Roxana Mînzatu will work under the guidance of the president of the Commission and be supported by the DG EAC and by the DG for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion for her work linked to skills, social rights, jobs and education.
