Tomaž Prosen and Maarit Karppinen: new members of the ERC Scientific Council from January 2025

Tomaž Prosen from the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Maarit Karppinen from Aalto University (Finland), will replace Ben L. Feringa and Alice Valkárová at the ERC Scientific Council, whose mandates end on 31/12/2025, as of 01/01/2025, announces the ERC on 25/09/2024.

Tomaž Prosen is a full professor at the University of Ljubljana, whose research focuses on fundamental questions of non-equilibrium statistical and quantum physics. He has received several prestigious awards, including two ERC Advanced Grants, and is a member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Maarit Karppinen is a Distinguished Professor at Aalto University, renowned for her research in atomic/molecular layer deposition for thin films used in (opto)electronics and energy applications. She received two ERC Advanced Grants and previously served as Head of the Chemistry Department at Aalto.
