With 413 applications submitted to the September 2024 call, the EIC has recorded the highest number of applications to its EIC Transition programme since its creation, it says on 24/09/2024.

As each application can request up to €2.5 M in grant funding, the total funding requests for proposals amount to €991 M. By comparison, in September 2023, €622.7 M had been requested by the 257 applications submitted.

The aim of the EIC Transition is to validate and demonstrate a technology, from the EIC Pathfinder, Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) or ERC Proof of Concept initiatives, in an environment adapted to its application, while developing its market readiness.

Proposals come from 39 countries, with the largest number coming from Spain, Italy and Germany.

More than half of the applicants (51%) come from the private sector, followed by universities (33%) and research organisations (15%).

The selected projects will start in April or May 2025, according to the Commission.
