Competitivness: Onera, French aerospace research center "needs the European Commission support"

"It is important for the European Commission to understand that RTOs like Onera, which were created after the war, may not have the youthful, dynamic image of start-ups set up in recent years, but they do have solid expertise in terms of skills, resources and protection of critical technologies", Marc Lesturgie, Onera's Director of International Affairs, told News Tank on 08/10/2024.

"It is necessary to rebuild certain strategic sectors in Europe, such as the rare earths industry. It will take at least 15 years to train the skills and relocate to the EU", he adds.

On 10/09/2024, Onera organised an event in Brussels entitled "Strengthening the EU's competitiveness and defence", which brought together more than 130 participants. "The aim was to show that Onera needs the support of the European Commission, and that we need to clearly define what a dual-use technology is."
