ERC: six winners of €10,000 each for engaging an audience beyond their academic field

The ERC awards six 2024 Public Engagement in Research Awards, the council announced on 25/10/2024. The six winners will each receive a €10,000 prize for their ability to reach an audience beyond their academic field.

The winners are:

• Tobias Hauser, Professor of Computational Psychiatry at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and Honorary Professor at University College London, is awarded for the creation of an interactive resource on obsessive-compulsive disorder;

• Mathilde Touvier, director of research at the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research, is recognised for her efforts in raising public awareness on food additives;

• Frédéric Dias, member of the Borelli Centre at ENS Paris-Saclay (France), is honoured for engaging the residents of the Aran Islands (Ireland), incorporating their local expertise into ocean wave research to enhance knowledge and community resilience;

• Orla Muldoon, Professor at the University of Limerick (Ireland) is awarded for her work on public understanding of gender-based violence;
