UK-France: A new pump-priming grants scheme to encourage partnerships

The United Kingdom is launching a new Science, Innovation, and Technology pump-priming grants scheme with France, announces UUKi, the international branch of the UK's rectors' conference, on 01/11/2024.

The scheme "is available to UUK member institutions to use in the context of research and innovation partnerships with France". It is funded by the British Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) via the International Science Partnerships Fund, and institutions can apply until 29/11/2024.

This new partnership was initially presented to French and British stakeholders during the UUKi delegation's visit to France, at Sorbonne Université, on 23/10/2024, as part of the UUKi tour of European partners to "rebuild collaboration".

The scheme was established after a bilateral research dialogue between the two countries on 29/02/2024, during which the UK and French governments committed funding to support the establishment and development of research collaborations on a bilateral basis between their countries.
