Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024: U.S. universities lead in 29 subjects; new indicators

Universities from the United States solidify their top positions in 29 subjects out of 55, can one read in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (Gras) 2024 published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy on 11/11/2024.

This year's league table contains rankings of universities in 55 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. More than 1,900 universities across 96 countries and regions are listed in the rankings.

"Harvard University stands out as the best-performing institution, earning a total of 14 crowns: five in Social Sciences, four in Medical Sciences, two in Life Sciences, two in Engineering, and one in Natural Sciences", says ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.

"MIT tops in four subjects, three of which are engineering subjects and one in Natural Sciences. Tsinghua University from China leads in three subjects, while Princeton University and the University of Chicago from the United States, along with the University of Oxford from the United Kingdom, each have two subjects ranked No. 1 in the world."
