50% of Western European students less likely to consider the U.S. after Republican win (QS survey)

45% of international students say they would not be affected at all by the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, while 54% believe elections would either significantly, moderately or slightly affect their study choices, according to Quacquarelli Symonds, in a survey before the results were known and published on 11/10/2024.

Among Western Europeans, 33% say they will be significantly affected, 33% moderately affected and 15% slightly affected.

This is the region with the most anticipated impact, but Latin America is the region with the highest proportion of respondents reporting impact altogether, with 5% being significantly affected, 35% moderately affected and 45% slightly affected, for a total of 85%, compared to 80% in Western Europe.

Africa & the Middle East and Asia Pacific are the least affected regions, with 51% and 46% respectively saying they will not be affected at all.
