European Universities alliances : "Interoperability can deepen cooperation" (EUA)

"Interoperability, if effectively implemented across European higher education, can deepen inter-institutional cooperation and transform traditional learning pathways", indicates the briefing "Developing common learning opportunities through interoperability" published by the EUA on 18/11/2024.

The European University Association is exploring interoperability’s potential to transform cooperation within and beyond the European Universities' alliances. The association defines interoperability as "the ability for partner universities to seamlessly and securely share data across institutional and national boundaries".

"Having interoperable systems should allow learners to pick and choose educational offers smoothly, have control over their learning, and have access to and own the information on their credentials in a portable format.

Instead of having one institution and one programme in the centre of learning, a truly interoperable system would reinforce the idea that ‘learning belongs to the learner’."
