EraSud, research alliance for sustainable development, calls for "equitable research partnerships"

Twelve European research organisations launch EraSud, a European research alliance for sustainable development, on 22/11/2024 at the European Parliament in Brussels. They advocate for "European policymakers to keep on investing in long-term equitable research partnerships with low- and middle-income countries to better address the interconnected challenges facing our planet".

Valérie Verdier, President of the IRD (French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development), whose Brussels office supports the alliance, states: “While we fully understand the need for Europe to align its research efforts to its new reaffirmed political priorities, one must not forget that this cannot happen in isolation.

Sustained efforts to mobilise resources to tackle global challenges through collaborative research with our partners from low- and middle-income countries should continue to be a must”.

The members of EraSud include:
