"We need to change the profile of the engineer in society" (Dirk Bochar, Engineers Europe)

"Europe will need one million new engineers per year. That is a challenge. We do not apparently have sufficient people who are enthusiastic about engaging and starting engineering studies. We need to change the profile of the engineer in society", says Dirk Bochar, Secretary General of Engineers Europe, the European Federation of National Engineering Associations, on 27/11/2024.

He is taking part in an event organised by the Cdefi, the Conference of Directors of French Engineering Schools, at the Maison Irène et Frédéric Joliot-Curie, hosting French players in research, innovation and higher education, in Brussels (Belgium).

Titled "Which and how many Engineers for Tomorrow?", the event seeks to address the pressing challenges posed by current demographic and technological shifts, saying engineering must evolve to meet the demands of climate change, drive sustainable innovation and navigate digital transformation.
