University of Copenhagen (Denmark) : David Dreyer Lassen, new Rector

The Board of the University of Copenhagen unanimously appoints David Dreyer Lassen as the new rector, says the Danish institution on 12/12/2024. The professor will take on his new position on 01/03/2025.

David Dreyer Lassen will succeed Henrik C. Wegener, who has been rector since 2017. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Copenhagen and is currently a Prorector for Research and Innovation and a professor of economics at the university.

He is also a Member of the Danish Competition Council, Chair of the Advisory Board for Videnskab.dk (Danish science media), and Deputy Chair of the Board of Statistics Denmark.

“David Dreyer Lassen comes with extensive national and international experience from academia. He is a widely recognised and well-respected researcher,” declares Merete Eldrup, Chair of the Board.

"UCPH will have a visionary and highly strategic-minded leader who has in-depth knowledge of the University's activities and, not least, interaction with the surrounding society. This insight will get him off to a flying start."
