UK to drive up participation in Horizon Europe to support researchers, innovators and businesses

A raft of plans to drive up participation in Horizon Europe by researchers, innovators and businesses from across the country will start in 2025, announces the UK government on 01/01/2025, on the first anniversary of their association to the European R&I programme.

The British government highlights that researchers and innovators from the UK can access grants to fund work tackling some of the biggest challenges facing society through Horizon Europe. "It is also a critical vehicle for working in partnership with researchers from across Europe, as well as other associated countries like Canada and South Korea."

According to the government, "signs suggest the UK association is trending in the right direction", quoting notably the latest ERC Synergy Grants, in which the UK hosted 18 projects - the second-highest number.

In 2025, the government is enhancing efforts to help UK researchers and businesses capitalise on the opportunities Horizon presents: roadshows, delegations of businesses and researchers to European partners, a PR campaign to encourage applications and additional grants…
