European Universities alliances: €8M for 13 German members distributed by the Ministry

Thirteen German universities, selected in the fifth European Commission funding round of the European Universities initiative, will receive around €8M from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research over the next four years in addition to the EU funding, announces the German Academic Exchange Service (Daad) on 07/01/2025.

The Daad has supported the selected German universities with the national accompanying programme "European University Networks - National Initiative" since 2020 by promoting networking between the universities, helping to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and ensuring greater visibility for German universities in the European networks.

The programme currently provides support to 63 German universities that have previously received funding approval from the EU. The total budget for the national support programme from 2024 to 2027 amounts to approximately €39 M.
