Passing of Tia Loukkola (OECD, EUA) expert in education policy and international collaboration

Graduated from the University of Turku (Finland) in French language and culture, communication, Spanish language and culture in 1997, Tia Loukkola was an expert in education policy, innovation, and international collaboration whose career spanned over two decades.

She began her professional journey at the University of Turku, where she served as an International Officer from 1997 to 2003. During this time, she coordinated international student exchange programmes, doubling their volume within two years. She later became Planning Officer and Quality Manager, playing a pivotal role in designing the university’s quality assurance system and drafting its first strategic plan.

In 2008, Tia Loukkola transitioned to European-level work, joining the EUA in Brussels. Over 13 years, she held various leadership roles, including Director for Institutional Development (2014-2021) and Deputy Secretary General (2021).
