Cyber attack at Eindhoven University: Education to restart on 20/01/2025

"Education will restart on Monday 20/01/2025. The schedules for the next three weeks will be online on 17/01", states the Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) on 16/01/2025, after shutting down its network on 12/01 due to a cyberattack.

The ICT staff of the TU/e caught sight of the attack around 21:00 on 11/01.

As a result of the attack, the TU/e decided to postpone exams, which were due to start in the week of 20/01, by one week. "The decision gives students and teachers clarity and enough time to prepare for exams and complete assignments on time. Next week will basically be like the current week, with deadlines and (catch-up) teaching".

The University adds that, since yesterday, "there have been nationwide distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on the Surf network, to which we as TU/e are connected. As a result, there may sometimes be problems with internet connections".
