University of Montreal: "Simpler, more empathetic and fairer" international admissions process

"Simplify while maintaining rigour; listen to the voice of students to rethink the way we do things and think outside the box; and, despite being a university that selects based on grades, guarantee fair access for all, with more inclusive elements," states Michèle Glémaud, Director of Admissions at Udem (University of Montreal), on the subject of modernising the admissions process for international students at her institution, on 14/01/2025, at the Canadian Embassy in Paris (France).

These three guidelines are the result of consultations with staff and students in all 13 faculties at Udem. This modernisation is part of the Institutional admission modernisation programme to be implemented in 2021, which aims to make the university more accessible and "meet the needs of our local and international population".

Of the 65,000 students at Udem, 10,000 are international students. For Michèle Glémaud, this represents "an essential diversity for creating a diverse educational environment where ideas can be confronted".
