"The discussion with Vice President Roxana Minzatu covered many topics, especially the European Universities Alliance initiative, which is a flagship priority", states Josep M. Garrell, President of the EUA, to News Tank on 17/01/2025.

Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice-president for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs, and Preparedness at the European Commission, received representatives from the EUA at the beginning of January.

"We really appreciate that the Vice President reacted so quickly to our proposal to meet at the very start of her term in office. It’s a clear sign of her willingness to make education a priority for the new European Commission."

The EUA shared with the VP the concerns of the universities that his association represents regarding the European University Alliances initiative, such as the fear of creating a two-tier system on the part of those that are not part of an alliance, or the fear of the long-term sustainability of alliances on the part of those that are.
