Universities alliances: "Synergies between EU, national and regional funding are necessary" (EC)

"Synergies between various sources of EU-level funding, and leveraging national and regional funding, are necessary for efficiency gains across all the missions. For the alliance’s ambition to materialise, a new conducive framework is needed under the next Multi-annual Financial Framework", can one read in the "Report on the outcomes and transformational potential of the European Universities Initiative" published by the European Commission on 24/01/2025.

The report evaluates the progress, achievements, and transformational impact of the European Universities initiative since its launch in 2019. It draws on extensive research, stakeholder consultations, and a monitoring framework to assess institutional collaboration, joint education, mobility, and research innovation. It also highlights challenges, provides recommendations for long-term success, and examines the initiative’s impact at national and European levels.
