THE by subjects 2025: Domination of American universities; Oxford University tops in two subjects

The United States is the most represented country in the 11 subjects ranked in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2025, published on 22/01/2025. It is followed by the UK and China. The leading European Union country is Spain. It is the fourth most represented country with 451 hits.

Of the 11 thematic rankings, nine show a US institution in the first place. Stanford University is first in Law, Education studies and Psychology. MIT is ahead in Arts and Humanities, Business and Administration, and Social Sciences. Harvard University leads in Engineering and Life Sciences. Finally, the California Institute of Technology stands out in the Physical Sciences.

The United Kingdom holds first place in the other two remaining rankings (Medicine and Health and Computer Science) with a single institution: the University of Oxford.
