The British AI Action Plan: "More than £14 Bn worth of investment and thousands of new jobs"

"Three major tech companies - Vantage Data Centres, Nscale and Kyndryl - have committed to £14 Bn (€16,72 Bn) investment to build the AI infrastructure the UK needs to harness the potential of this technology and deliver 13,250 jobs", says the British government on 13/01/2025 in its AI Action Plan.

"It follows £25 Bn (€29,86 Bn) worth of new investment into the UK’s data centre infrastructure announced at the Global Investment Summit (in October 2024), bringing the total to £39 Bn (€46,58 Bn) in the last six months", adds the government.

It also states that "an average of £200 M (€239 M) in private sector investment has been funnelled into the UK’s AI sector every day since July 2024".

This AI Action Plan is announced three days after the publication of Matt Clifford’s AI Opportunities Action Plan, an independent report commissioned by the government. British entrepreneur Matt Clifford is also appointed as the Prime Minister’s AI Opportunities Adviser on 13/01/2025.
