MSCA: €417 million to 1,696 postdoctoral researchers; 15 Danish winners per million inhabitants

The European Commission awards €417 M to 1,696 postdoctoral researchers as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships, announces the institution on 11/02/2025.

Their projects span eight scientific disciplines:

• Social sciences and humanities: 22.94%,
• Life sciences: 20.93%,
• Information sciences and engineering: 15.63%,
• Chemistry: 14.68%,
• Physics: 11.44%,
• Environment and geosciences: 10.5%,
• Mathematics: 2.06 %,
• Economic sciences: 1.83%.

The United Kingdom has the most winners (366), but is eighth in the number of winners per million inhabitants (5.27). With 15.43 prize winners per million inhabitants, Denmark tops the ranking.

"The European Research Executive Agency received 10,360 applications for this call, 16.6 % of which were selected for funding. 292 projects are on the reserve list and may be contacted at a later stage if funding is available", also indicates the institution.

41 additional ERA Fellowships will be awarded to excellent researchers to carry out their work in "widening countries" (i.e. low-performing countries in R&I).
