Call for "inherent integration of RD&I efforts by design into the EU Competitiveness Compass"(Earto)

"Only the inherent integration of RD&I efforts by design into the EU Competitiveness Compass will enable and ensure that Europe is at the forefront of key advanced technologies, groundbreaking innovations, and novel products and services. This will be secured if RD&I Pillars by design are inserted in each planned EU Flagship Action targeting specific technologies or strategic industrial sectors", states Eleni Dritsakou, Senior Policy Officer at Earto, to News Tank on 24/02/2025.

The association is reacting to the presentation of the Competitiveness Compass-the translation of the Draghi and Letta reports into a communication of the European Commission-by Ursula von der Leyen on 29/01/2025, in a position paper on 17/02/2025.

According to the European Association of RTOs, "the interlinking of EU Industrial and RD&I policies should be the key target of the Competitiveness Fund. RD&I efforts cannot be viewed in isolation but are interlinked processes that are the basis for EU competitiveness".
