Christian Ehler's report urging the Commission to "honour the Treaties and ensure FP10 independency"

"The European Parliament’s Itre Committee urges the Commission to honour the Treaties and ensure FP10 remains an independent Union programme. His budget should receive a substantial upgrade to €220 Bn, in line with the target of 3% of GDP being spent on R&D. We should double down on what works and especially support the bottom-up instruments currently part of the programme, such as the ERC and the EIC", says Christian Ehler, German MEP from EPP and former rapporteur for Horizon Europe, on 19/02/2025.

On the same day, his report on the assessment of the implementation of Horizon Europe in view of its interim evaluation and recommendations for the 10^th Framework Programme is adopted by an "overwhelming majority" (67 votes in favour, 5 against, 9 abstentions) within its parliamentary committee. It was made public for the first time on 14/11/2024. The MEPs then proposed amendments.

The report also states that "increasing the budgets of ERC and EIC should be a priority in the FP10".
